Where do you buy the paint, and what brand is it?

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@CTspeedshop Thank you.. I had great fun working on this model.. :)

Author kenone1234567 (1 year)
Great job as always. I noticed that this was in 1/48 scale. Do you build
mostly in 1/72 scale for WWII fighter aircraft?

Author mybluebelly (1 year)
hahaha..i felt i had to point it out. It is a very famous bird and i never
did see it with just this color. I do have an "accuracy syndrome" but i
don`t think anyone using stock Humbrol paints suffer 100% of this. I just
think that bright blue colour usually found on the "petie 2nd" is a very
vivid and eyecatching feat, but i did not see this on your finished model.
There ;-) If i remember correctly, i thinki used #14 french blue on my 1:72
kit. Getting the "correct" shade is not that important.

@angryace13 Thank you very much.. :)

about how long did this take to build? is it good for a beginner?

I see... ha ha ha ha ha... :) Thanks... :)

@leokimvideo Thank you... :)

Author gep210 (3 years)
I beg to differ with you. Anyone who is interested in aviation knows what
these planes are, unless you are building a little known Italian plane or
an unknown Czech or Japanese plane. I am sure people will know any WWII
American, German or British plane which are usually built on these Youtube
channels as myself have since I was a youngster. I'm don't to argue with
you about this. Anyway nice building. I'm building a 1/32 scale Pitts S2B
at the moment and can use any tips I can get.

Author ghostmoffets (1 year)
Отлично сделано супер молодец !

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@gep210 I'm glad YOU know the history behind it.. but I have quite a few
subs who DON'T know.. I cover for all! Feel free to fast forward to the
bits you find interesting.. if any at all! :) My videos are there to be
watched, for those who like them.. and those who don't like them, well,
they don't have to watch them at all.. :) I'm happy either way...

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@MrFlix76 If you airbrush you can buy a special high gloss silver paint,
which comes in several shades.. the range is called 'alclad'.. I brush by
hand, as you no doubt know, so I just use Humbrol No.!!.. as for the etched
brass seatbelts, they were only a couple of pounds when I bought them, they
are not all that expensive.. :)

Author MrFlix76 (3 years)
@BasicModelling thanks i might invest in some :D

Author Rob BasicModelling (1 year)
Well, it is to some.. but the main issue people in general tend to have is
the fact that it isn't gloss.. :) Never mind.. I'm happy with it.. But I
have to admit I cringe when I see a Boxted Thunderbolt painted in the wrong
colours.. like the famous black Thunderbolts of the 61st Fighter Squadron,
that sometimes are painted 'midnight blue'.. but I cry in silence.. :) :)

Author Rob BasicModelling (1 year)
Thank you.. it was 100% fun, that build.. :)

Author Gahlok12 (1 year)
hey nice kit I'm going to be doing 1 of the 332nd all black fighter group
that shot down 3 me-262s and damaged some and some probables. it's also of
the scale and brand.

Author Usdownz (3 years)
How much did this one cost? :) fantastic end result !!! :)

@jige21 No scribing needed, it has recessed panel lines.. a beautiful kit!!

Author BradThunder (3 years)
Absolute belter! Fantastic work there and great to see you doing 1/48! I
just picked up the Tamiya Bird Cage F4U-1/2 Corsair, so looking forward to
getting stuck in about that as well as the Eduard Royale Class Hellcats I
picked up from a recent show (£40 instead of £80!!!) also 1/48. Plus nearly
finished the jug - the end is in sight!

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@BerndenLivien I wish I could go there.. :)

Author MilitaryAircraft101 (3 years)
@BasicModelling must try it!, i may buy the Revell kit as well and do a
comparison vid! I wonder who will win* *Sarcasm...

Author DaddyCool273 (1 year)
Most awesome. Top job! :)

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@BradThunder Strangely eneough I bought a F4U Corsair the other day as
well, albeit the Acadamey 1/72 variety.. :) Did you take any footage /
photos at the show?? I haven't been to a show in ages, but hope to go to a
couple in the spring, as always.. and also the Hendon show in May.. I still
have a list of planes to film and take photos of.. :) :) Future 1/48
projects include the old Testors P-47 D, and an Italeri T-6 Texan.. maybe a
HobbyBoss Hellcat as well, depending on other projects.. :)

Author Rob BasicModelling (1 year)
Thank you... :) I agree.. :)

@daamardeep Thank you... :) :)

Author CK Bruno (3 years)
i love the p-51 mustang thanks a lot for building a tamiya kit in 1/48
scale :) are you giung to boild another of these tamiya kits?? thank you
Bruno

Author Rob BasicModelling (1 year)
Yes, I do mainly, as I have limited space.. I run out ages ago! :P

Author Rob BasicModelling (1 year)
Thanks.. I would love to build another one.. :)

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@AlanMartinNala I was lucky this time, I guess.. :) :)

Author Rob BasicModelling (1 year)
I never used to like the P-51.. but the more I build them, the more I want
to build.. :) It's very odd.. :)

Author MrHotrod68 (3 years)
@BasicModelling true true maybe just a few flys around the city

Author Rob BasicModelling (1 year)
If I have another person telling me it is the wrong colour, I will scream:
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! There.. done!! It's MY model, on MY shelf and it's
not going anywhere near a competition table.. :) :) That aside you're most
likely right.. but luckily I don't suffer from the 100% accuracy syndrome,
so I'm not overly bothered! Blue is a difficult shade to get right, I have
the same problem with a planned P-47 N build, and I can never find a shade
to match the Swedish insignia blue.. :P

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@MilitaryAircraft101 Yes, I do wonder... Mind you, having said that, I have
already built the Revell / Monogram kit in 1/48, and I have another kit to
build, and it's not all that bad.. :) It has some interesting features like
open engine covers and gun bays.. which the Tamiya kit hasn't! :)

Author Nathan R (1 year)
i was wondering how do you wash and what is the washer to use? thanks

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@gep210 Well, the history part is there for those who DON'T know.. all the
same!! :) Right now I have completed another Spitfire video of, my final
two builds of February, and it should please you to know I have no history
lesson there at all.. :) The Pitts S2B is a beauty of a plane, I have been
lucky to see one perform a few times at the annual local fly-ins at the old
US WWII Airfield around the corner.. sadly they stopped arranging them back
in 2006 :( I haven't built one in any scale (cont)

Author Rob BasicModelling (2 years)
Flaws? What flaws?? :)

Author Rob BasicModelling (3 years)
@MrHotrod68 By painting very carefully.. but this is far from factory
fresh.. :) :)

@2002And Please do.. it's a new re-release so should be readily available
to buy still.. :)

Author General Splatton (3 years)
Really excellent work! Love the details you brought out.

Author Bruce Forrest (3 years)
@BasicModelling I still have my Tamiya 1:48 Sea Harrier model I built a
while ago, I do like their 1:48 range of aircraft. They're the dog's
proverbials lol Tamiya models may be a bit pricey, but you know you're
paying for quality :) There I go again, with my Tamiya bias!!

Author Parkash Kaur (3 years)
beautiful kit

Author Rob BasicModelling (2 years)
Nope, this aircraft didn't have invasion stripes.. at least not at the time
which I'm showing here.. :) Most invasion stripes were painted on very
hastily in the field, using brooms and mops for brushes and would have been
extremely uneven, so a perfectly straight look isn't all that realistic,
even if it looks good on the model.. :)

did you put the invasion stripes on I hand painted invasion stripes on both
my P51 and P38 I thought they turned out ok but your right its really hard
to make them good and even

Author AlexModeling (1 year)
I love airplanes... but P-51s and Spits.. they have quite a presence...
