In '72 I got out of hospital and went to my 1 Commando (reserve) unit parade. Just my luck a two mile run with rifle and pack etc was scheduled. Weak as I was I got through it just in time, with the CSM screaming at me that none of his blokes was going to fail.
Later on, the CSM and I had a good laugh about it , over drinks in the mess of course.
If Collins had a problem with any of his leaders he could have asked them to have a fight off-base! He is a Commando? Or a WANKER?

What a little wanker this Collins is. A corporal from 42 commando gripped him at CTCRM one night and told him exactly what he thought of him and what would happen if he turned up at 42 Cdo. 2 weeks later this little prick had the brass neck to go to Plymouth with 2 of his RM recruit mates and look for the corporal. He found him in a bar, took a swing at him, then the corporal absolutely handed his arse to this so called "martial arts" expert as his 2 recruit mates stood by and watched shitting

More like 'Cadet Alex Stone' from Major Payne in the early stages.

THUMBS UP IF YOU WANT TO BE A ROYAL MARINE COMMANDO!

Author teddy1066 (1 year)
Collins was back trooped b/c he wasn't mentally tough enough. To pass out you need grit and determination. You need to motivate yourself through the mud and the cow shit. By having a moan he proved he wasn't capable of progressing through training.

Author HONORGUARD308 (1 year)
little bitch, he cannot take the life style so he trys to find other things to blame he cannot exccept he cannot cut it.

Author babyboosabz (1 year)
probably so he could put it on his cv or something. Then he realised it wouldn't be the walk in the park he had thought, and that people wouldn't treat him like a god

Author babyboosabz (1 year)
ha yeah, but atleast terry didn't blame the other soldiers for his problems

Author babyboosabz (1 year)
wow moany. the marine staff will never baby you or treat you like a sugar lump. he should of realised that

Yes, did a little over 5 years in the USCG and I'm about to get out. It's a very eye opening experience. Shouting is a part of daily life while in training because the USCG runs off of the USMC's training drill manuals. After Boot Camp though, life is pretty normal, no shouting unless you piss somebody off.

Author TheGunner1324 (1 year)
its ok you live in australia, all you have to is sign some forms drink a fosters larger and sit back and soak up the song for a few weeks.

Author TheGunner1324 (1 year)
currently in training at harrogate army college, training as a junior paratrooper, father was a PTI in the parachute regiment, after harrogate im going onto catterick then p company, my dad told me about the shouting, as im going to join specialised infantry, i will be getting shouted at and i know i'd rather get shouted at than not, it gets the best out of you, do you serve in the US millitary?

Author SaltyPowderMonkey27 (1 year)
Very interesting, It's weird because the shouting is not motivating for us, its meant to break us mentally. They induce high stress to weed out people who crack, and I've seen plenty recruits crack. By the way, are you UK Army or Marine?

Author TheGunner1324 (1 year)
shouting is used for motivation, for example if you go for a run and have a friend with you encouraging you you will go further, british infantry get shouted at to increase motivation, royal marines need to be self sufficent, push themselves to the the best of there abbillties.

Author SaltyPowderMonkey27 (1 year)
Great series! I'm in the American military and the one HUGE difference I noticed is the Americans use "shock" psychology on new recruits and train them in a very short period of time. The Brits however seem to use time to break people into military lifestyle. When I went to Boot Camp, I was in hell from when I stepped off the bus until the last day, 8 weeks later. Boot Camp was the most psychologically challenging training I ever went through. Now it would be cake, but not then as a civilian.

Stupid prick should never have been there in the first place.
Why the fuck would you apply for the RM's if you want to be a STUNT MAN.

Author Martyn Courtliff-Long (1 year)
did any of you beefers actually know that collins passed out, this documentry is over 5 years old and as for the "build a bridge and get over your self son" is a perfect example off a jobless little weasel burger that has no clue about the armed force or people whom served within, therefore resides within the wardrobe watchin his mother having sexually deviant encounters with men witch are not his father.

Author mikeyduke10 (1 year)
shouldnt there be a episode 6 part 4? :/

Author sidwinder99 (1 year)
Collins should have never got past the selection process. The military in my country has such a strict selection process it's almost impossible to join. The fact he joined the military as an enlisted rank means he doesn't have the privilage of talking to superiors "as just men" rank structure is the fundamental principal of any military organisation and he should have known about it before joining and accepted it. Build a bridge and get over yourself son.

Author JordanGuitar11 (1 year)
Guess what Collins, you treat people in the military as men thats true but always there must be respect for rank. I dont think i would know anybody who is in a position of power that hasn't been put through there paces and earned there respect.

Nice to see well balanced logical comments like yours.

Might have been one of those uni students ;)
Take it easy.

Author Antifaith29 (1 year)
I have a simaler story to you. The difference is the injury. I left the lower part of my left leg there along with one of my pretty expensive fuckin boots that i bought as private kit lol.
I personally don't judge anyone ( ive caught enough of that shit from wanker uni students thinking were there killing locals) but fucked if i should be telling you what and what not to do eh?
No harm meant , obviously didnt realise you'd done your bit , was a kneejerk reaction thinking you>>

Author Moe Fang (1 year)
I served my time in Iraq and I wasn't a little shit about any of my duties, nor was my attitude overwhelmingly negative at any point [except, perhaps, after a bullet passed through my sternum].

I've earned the right to judge soldiers that act like self-entitled little shitbirds. I earned that right by not being a whiny little ass myself. In any case, just because he served, doesn't mean he deserves my respect - especially since he served to further his career.

Author Antifaith29 (1 year)
I suggest you read the top rated post before making comments like that.

What a little tosser.

Author TheGoldenBlackTiger (1 year)
In my opinion nothin of what you do in the army has a bit of sence even if they say it has. also i hate those who complain in the way the recruit does ad the way he shows desrespect.. i also hate people who bring shit like ''i have been in afghanistan and you havent'' that deserves respekt but you should never throw it in the face of anyone don't forget you are still a soldier equal to all man that wear the uniform.

Thats the way to ween out the week, and at that time he wasn't good enough but obviously he is better than we all think considering he passed out in the end.

Listen lads, he might have went to CTC as a moany little wanker but at the end of the day he's a Bootneck now and has served in Afghan, just goes to show the Marines will make a man out of anyone.
