This simple saw is designed to solve the perennial problems of naval modelers when cutting the planks for a model.
It is built entirely of metal. As it can be seen in the photographs there have been used leftover plates and angles from other buildings. Marriages are made with an electric welding machine which can be replaced with little bending sheet metal parts wit and using some screws.
All parts are mobile and the cutting table can be raised and lowed.
The turning shaft is mounted with two bearings. Use a saw / drill to make clean cuts.
In this case an electric drill was attached in order to give speed and strength to the cut. You might also use a motor connected to the axis or using belt pulleys, but the drill is completely functional.
Using a circular saw blade, you can also cut plastic, fiber, aluminum, plywood and ply (thin). Sizes are not given since they depend on the parts to get the bearings and the type of drill to use.
In the video you can appreciate the benefits of this home-made tool.

The plans of this saw are found at: http://www.modelistasnavales.com.ar

Saludos y cualquier otra duda me consulta.

thats how the chopstick business is produced

Author labrat7357 (2 years)
Great project and it seems to cut very well. One simple mod that would add
a lot to the safety of the saw is foot to prevent the stock lifting at the
back of the blade. It could be as simple as a post screwed to the perspex
guide with a perspex block extending 1" over the work and held with a grub
screw. My view is saw guards often detract from safety by making cuts more
difficult, but something that stops the stock lifting stops most kick back
and rarley hinders the cut is a worthwhile mod.

No

Author kght222 (2 years)
even before i read the description i thought this looked great for wooden
models, and for those complaining about safety, NO SHIT IT IS DANGEROUS, IF
A PERSON DIDN'T KNOW THAT THEY DESERVE TO BE WOUNDED!. anyway maybe you
have, but a small scale planner would be awesome. anyway cool tool, and
anyone who thinks it isn't obviously dangerous to use a tool like that, and
must be treated with care, is either an idiot, or thinks that everyone else
is an idiot.

muy linda maquinita. . . Lástima que trabajes de forma tan insegura. . Yo
.no te
confíes, cuando menos lo esperas te para. .

Author 00WoW00 (2 years)
Did you make the saw from a kit or did you make it out of things you had
laying around your shop? It looks like a very nice saw.

Author P0tat0_craft (1 year)
Lol obviously there are safety features that could be implemented here, but
hey I've done the same only with a 9in diameter blade. I've also replaced a
grinding wheel on a grinder with a saw blade.... Not the safest thing I've
DONT but I still have all 10 fingers

Author Lordcirdan (2 years)
peligrosa.

Author Rafael Zambrino (2 years)
@pulidomi Read the description of the video please. Thanks.

Author Rafael Zambrino (3 years)
Thank you very much for your comment! We both know that tools are dangerous
but in the case of this video, I cut a little piece of wood in order you to
appreciate the machine with more details. But actually, this machine is
thought to use a bigger piece of wood, and in that case you won't have your
fingers near the saw. This is an example of a little machine that can be
modified by everyone who wants to add and additional security system.
Again, thanks.
