Dynam Focke-Wulf Fw 190 Unbox - SN Hobbies

Thanks to Delfin and the crew at SN Hobbies, I was given an opportunity to assemble and fly this awesome PNP German fighter.

The kit went together quickly with no hitches. Given the super low price point of this kit, I was pleasantly surprised to see that servoless main gear retracts were included.

The assembled model looks great and I look forward to seeing how it flies. Stay tuned for the Maiden flight.

Many thanks to Dave B. for the great photos! More to come with the Maiden!

Note: I made an error in the video when I talked about the few parts that need to be glued. It is also necessary to glue a small plastic part to the wings that the wing bolt goes through. This takes a few seconds using the supplied glue or some foam safe CA. Sorry!

The Focke-Wulf FW190 ranks with the Supermarine Spitfire, Vought F4U Corsair and North American P-51 Mustang as one of the best fighters of World War II. The Focke-Wulf 190 was designed by a team of German designers headed by the famous Kurt Tank.

Its appearance in the skies over France in early 1941 was a rude shock to the Allies, as it was clearly superior to any other plane. For nearly a year, until the debut of the Spitfire IX, the FW 190 was the unmatched champion of the air war.

guess I just can't leave well enough alone...

Author Fred Carr (2 years)
Thank the lord for the spitty MK9 or else we all be goose stepping

Author Gnomediva (2 years)
The wheels are not very scale like are they?I mean they are so tiny in
comparison to the rest....

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Yes, I agree. And we have to remember that they are offered at very
different price points!

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks Pat, I think they did a pretty good job with it given the price.

Author PatBALEX (2 years)
Nice video...Seen a lot of this plane..Dynam did a great job with this
one...Maybe a little extra on the paint job would be nice...I'm looking
forward to the maiden...

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
LOL, I saw that too :-( The black blanket I used to cover the island in the
kitchen lives in my SUV to protect the carpet from dirt and grass that
comes off the planes. When I shook it out to cover the island, I launched
about a million dust bunnies. Thanks for watching!

Author RIPcombat (2 years)
Now that was a GREAT unboxing, hope to see more.

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
LOL. Get two for twice the fun! Thanks for watching!

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks very much, I hope to do more in the future. Cheers!

Author Heli Fan Ensenada (1 year)
Have you had any problems with the retracts?

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Agreed, I intend to take a Mustang and a Spitfire Mk IX with me whenever I
fly this, just in case things get out of control, lol. Thank you for taking
the time to comment!

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks Mike! I have to admit it's a lot of bang for the buck! Thanks for
watching buddy!

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks for the very cool comments. I hope to have the maiden up in the next
day or two as soon as I get time to do the freakin editing. Many thanks for
watching :-)

Author michi386 (2 years)
haha.....will do :D

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thank you very much!!! :-)

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks Robbo, much appreciated. The maiden was........ (good but don't tell

Author rgthd007 (1 year)
Yes, I discuss a couple of issues with the retracts in the video I did of
the maiden flight. If flying from grass, rake them forward, it's an easy
mod and makes a world of difference. Also, the struts are very soft and
will bend easily it you hit a hole or land hard. They're easy to bend back
but I wish they were stiffer. As far as them working properly, they worked
fine and I had no issues with dropping or raising them. Thanks for watching!

Author TinkerManRC (2 years)
Another great video Bob awesome man I enjoyed this.. Thumbs Up..Tim

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks for watching Steve. I should have the maiden video up soon. Cheers!

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks very much for the great comments, thanks Tim!

Author WarbirdFan66 (2 years)
Nice video man, and a nice plane too if i might add. Im a big fan of the
190, still i dont own one yet, but the Dynam Focke looks nice. A buddy of
mine is flying one and im looking forward to your review of this bird, to
hear what you think about it. Specialy your thought about the landing gear,
because he takes off with it but he usually lands the plane on its belly
because of our bumpy field. The only thing i dont like that much about that
plane is the pilot, a minor detail, thanks for sharin

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks very much! I should have the Maiden up soon and I'll be sharing my
thoughts about it. As for the pilot, somehow an extra pilot from a PZ T-28
found his way into the cockpit. He's not much of an improvement but I know
what you mean :-) Thanks for watching!

Author Konstantinos Ginalas (2 years)
you did an amazing job with the video. It looks a great plane with nice
details ;)

Hey Bob great unbox and review I love my dynam FW 190 it is probably the
smoothest plane i have just a ball to fly. thanks

Author joker rc (2 years)
great video ,i like the way you showed the history of this Amazing air
craft ,and presentation was super , now stop teasing us and let see this
beauty fly, hehe

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
After you mentioned it, I took a look at the pictures of the wheels on the
real Fw190 and noticed that they are fairly small too. The wheels sure fill
up the wheel wells when you retract the gear. I suppose that if there's a
difference, it is pretty small. We have to remember that this is a flying
model and not a perfect scale static model. They roll well on grass once
you get the very low gear doors out of the way. Thanks for watching and for
your comment!

Author Robert Gumley (2 years)
Great look at the model and history of the full size. Hope it's maiden went
to plan Bob

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks very much. That's high praise coming from you! All the best and
happy flying.

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
Thanks LOL! The Maiden is up next. Thanks for watching!

that. Keep up the good work.

Author 3FLYTE (2 years)
I like these reviews. They have a very personal touch. Compliments to SN
Hobbies. Keep making reviews :)

Author Gnomediva (2 years)
It's strange the wheels on this FW-190 are so tiny, because the one on the
other FW (from FMS) the wheels are much bigger... Then again the Dynam
Me-109 looks sweeter then the FMS ...allthough the Dynam is smaller.... ;)
So every RC has it own pro and cons then :P

Author rgthd007 (2 years)
I hear ya!

Thanks very much!
